This article explains how payouts and tax reporting work on Jinxxy, how to access your payout records, and what information you can share with your accountant.
You should use the "Payout Amount" in the end of year report in creator dashboard to know what your income from Jinxxy is.
Overview: How Jinxxy Works
Jinxxy operates as the Merchant of Record.
This means:
- Customers purchase products directly from Jinxxy
- Jinxxy processes payments, collects and remits applicable taxes, and handles refunds
- Creators are paid by Jinxxy through a net revenue share
Creators do not receive customer payments directly.
What Tax Forms Will I Receive?
U.S. Creators
- You may receive a Form 1099-MISC - if you did not receive one you can still fill out the required information with the end of the year payout report as the Box 3 (Other Income) and our EIN below.
- This form reports the total amount Jinxxy paid you during the calendar year
- The amount shown reflects net payouts, not gross customer sales - this should reflect the amount in your end of year report in your creator dashboard.
- Our EIN is: 88-1002529
Non-U.S. Creators
- You will not receive a U.S. tax form
- We may request information to document your non-U.S. status, this documentation is used for compliance purposes only
Why You Do Not Receive a 1099-K
A 1099-K reports gross customer payments. Because Jinxxy is the merchant of record and creators do not receive customer payments, a 1099-K does not apply and is not issued to creators.
How Creator Payouts Work
Creators are paid a net revenue share by Jinxxy.
Before payouts are issued, Jinxxy handles platform-level operations such as:
- Payment processing
- Tax collection and remittance
- Refunds and chargebacks
- Platform infrastructure and operations
The remaining amount is paid to the creator as their payout.
How Creators Should Think About Taxes
Jinxxy provides creators with records of the amounts paid to them. How those amounts are reported and handled for tax purposes depends on each creator’s individual circumstances.
Some creators may have business-related expenses connected to creating or selling their work. Others may not. Because tax treatment varies by country, region, and personal situation, Jinxxy does not provide tax advice or determine how creators should report or deduct expenses.
Creators are responsible for:
- Determining how to report income received from Jinxxy
- Determining which expenses, if any, may be deductible
- Complying with applicable tax laws in their jurisdiction
We strongly recommend consulting a qualified accountant or tax professional to determine the correct treatment for your situation.
